A Weekend of Wonders

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a an enjoyable, if not relaxing weekend, and that you’re easing back into the swing of weekday things. I know that at least have lots of good things to say!

1. Jake and I finally went to the beach – Watch Hill, specifically – for the first time this summer. For those of you who have never been, Watch Hill is quintessential New England. A marina filled with monstrous yachts and sailboats, streets lined with boutiques and restaurants, and a beautiful coast of sand and waves. Needless to say, it was packed. We literally got the last parking spot in the whole town. And it was $30. Regardless, we had a wonderful, much-needed day together. I even went in the water! My favorite picture of us from the afternoon:

I know, I know, instagram is lame blah blah…

2. I finally stopped by the library last week and picked up some pleasure reading…for the first time in literally years. I have become so terrible at setting aside downtime for myself that my stress level is through the roof! My favorite pick so far? MWF seeking BFF, by Rachel Bertsche. It’s a short memoir of a woman’s one-year quest to find some friends in a new city (Chicago). And honestly, I could not put it down. Rachel is smart, sassy, sarcastic, and sweet. Her narrations are hilarious — perfectly sprinkled with pop culture references and jokes — while her purpose is heartfelt. I’ve never found a read so relatable! If you have a few extra minutes, check out her blog and pick up the book.

3. My schedule is packed for the next few weeks, so I apologize in advance for being flaky about the blog. I’ve got three articles on deadline for before I leave on the 20th (though they are admittedly fabulous assignments), and then I won’t have any real access to a computer until around August 1st. Israel, here I come!
